Closets seem to be an abyss of clothing that has never been worn or clothing that has been outgrown – but, we still seem to hold on to all of these pieces of clothing that are more than likely never going to be worn again. There are multiple pieces of clothing in the wardrobe that should be organized. To do this, there should be three categories of clothing, these include: trash, donate and keep. You should aim to declutter about thirty percent of the wardrobe – this means that thirty percent of the wardrobe should be donated to charity or thrown into the trash if no one else can make use of the item.
The rules of the game for organizing your closet include donating or putting the item of clothing in the trash that you have not worn in six months. This general rule is used because most people wear up to twenty percent of their wardrobe eighty percent of the time, therefore the pieces of clothing that are not being worn are simply taking up space in the closet and causing the clutter problem to worsen over a period of time.
Many people have a hard time separating themselves from the clothing pieces in the closet. If the pieces of clothing have not been worn than it is important to donate the clothing pieces if they are still in good shape or simply make the decision to put the pieces of clothing in the trash.
If there are pieces of clothing that you have not worn in the past generation of clothing items that no longer fit because they are too big or too small than these items should be placed in a trash bag and removed from the closet. This way, the items will not make their way from the closet to the floor to than cause endless washing that can come from items that are not even being worn.
The items that are being kept in the wardrobe should be organized by grouping like items together. Sweaters and long sleeve shirts should be grouped together, as short sleeve and sleeveless shirts should. Be sure to group pants together to make the most of the organizations system.
