One reason for a disorganized home today is the fact that while we still tend to see a house in traditional divisions and terms, our lifestyles today are radically different. Think about it: we still define a house in terms of rooms such as the kitchen, the bedroom, the living room, the den and others, but the fact is that we do not do the same things in the same areas anymore. In the quest for a more organized home, you may want to think about broadening your horizons and reorganizing your home.

Instead of thinking in traditional terms, you need to assign areas around your home based on the activities you are allowed to do there. This will definitely help to better organize your home life and prevent clutter or mess from accumulating. When you confine specific activities to specific areas, there is less chance that any items from one area will find their way to another area. This will definitely help prevent you from misplacing various items – a very common problem in disorganized homes. By confining activities to specific areas, you will also be able to better organize your activities.

This is not just about the home as a whole. You should also take a look at different rooms and then assign areas within those rooms. One of the more important rooms in which to do this is the children’s bedroom, since this is often the messiest. Many people who treat the children’s bedroom as just that often end up bemoaning on how messy a kid’s room can be. This is because children tend to engage in different activities all over the room. You may have drawings on walls and toys scattered all over the floor.

By creating areas in children’s bedrooms, you will be able to organize and “rein in” the chaos somewhat. Since the kids are only allowed to play with their toys in a single area, you will not have to think about having toys scattered all over the room. The same goes for crayons and other things that they may be using in activities. This will also help to ensure that your children’s rooms always appear neat — even if they actually are not. Creating areas is also not just a temporary solution to a problem. This will actually teach your children to better organize and plan their activities, and will ultimately prepare them for better and more organized lives.
