Unfortunately, not every home is equipped with storage space to accommodate these items and homeowners are left in the position to find alternate and creative storage solutions to store everything from sports equipment to winter clothing.

Although storage areas are necessary, it doesn’t mean that we can’t take measures to hide these unattractive spaces! Here are some tips that you can use to hide these spaces that seem to cause so much trouble.

Unattractive storage areas can be kept at bay through the use of labeled containers. Labeled containers allow you to group like things together and follow one of the golden rules of organization. These containers can be placed in storage rooms, or on shelves, in the bottom of closets – anywhere that you require a little extra organization. This way, storage items can be kept out of sight and allow you to free up space elsewhere in the home.

Use furniture that is designed for storage. Two of the most popular types of furniture that are designed for storage are ottomans and shelves that are made to use baskets and drawers. These can conceal everything from kid clutter to remotes that you would rather hideaway – and can look savvy while doing it. If you are seeking a hidden storage solution for your living space, an ottoman can conceal loads of junk, while acting as extra seating or even a coffee table.

Floating shelves are a great way to disguise clutter that can accumulate in the home anywhere between tabletops and desks. This method of freeing up space can create room for things that matter. Floating shelves allow room for storage on the floor and other parts of the home, and can create storage without cluttering up the floor plan within the bedroom.

Decorative shoe and hat boxes are a great way to store items that are small and can fit within these items such as old photographs that have yet to be stored in photo albums, or even cosmetic items within the bedroom and the bathroom. These boxes can be stored on shelves and can even be adhered with labels to create effective storage solutions and help you find what you have been looking for.

Use disguised storage solutions such as under bed storage systems and behind furniture that has available storage space. This can reduce the visual clutter in the home and take advantage of every single space.
