The Clutter of Time

The Clutter of Time

One problem that many individuals have difficulty avoiding is the accumulation of clutter in their everyday life. You don’t necessarily have to be a scheduling packrat to eventually accumulate some clutter in your life and around your house (both in the physical sense and otherwise). There are several small steps one can take to ensure that they do not continue to add to the clutter, and several other steps that can be taken to ensure that once the clutter has been removed that it does not return. Follow these helpful hints and get on the road to cutting the clutter in your life:

· Try Not To Over-Commit: Over committing is a serious problem for a lot of people. It can sometimes be hard for individuals to not fill their day with activities. Try to schedule some relaxation time for yourself each and every day, and enough time in between tasks and activities so that you don’t feel rushed throughout the day. Instead of scheduling everything for one day, try spreading your obligations out throughout the week. If you simply cannot move an activity to another day, prioritize and figure out which activities can be cut from your schedule altogether.

· Make a List of Priorities: Applying to both clutter in your day-to-day life and physical clutter, make a list of priorities. Try to cut items from the bottom of your list that may not assist you in accomplishing your goals. Sometimes this can be hard, but it is important. Does the activity or item get in the way? If so, you may want to consider what the activity actually accomplishes for you, and whether or not that time could be better spent having some time off.

· Re-Train Yourself: Individuals who are considered ‘busy-body’s’ often have a very hard time cutting things from their schedule and adjusting to taking some time off. If you are one of these people try to get used to the fact that sometimes you just don’t have anything that you need to be doing. Relaxation and time off is an important part of productivity, whether or not you want to believe it.

Making a commitment to having a less clutter-filled life may be easier than you think. With just a few small steps you should be able reduce clutter in your schedule and in your life and be well on your way to clutter free living.
